La Fête du Slip is a multidisciplinary festival that explores the themes of body, gender, and sexuality in art. Our shortflim competition aims to reward films that present a high artistic quality, explore fresh ideas about gender and sexuality, in new and innovative ways. We particularly encourage films that explore new approaches to erotic narratives, and that renew traditional representations of bodies, genders, and sexualities.

Rules & regulations
RULES & REGULATIONS
By submitting one or several films to La Fête du Slip, submitters accept the following rules and regulations.
It is the responsibility of submitters to ensure that permission and legal copy and screening rights have been obtained from all appropriate parties before submitting a film for selection to the festival. By accepting selection, the submitter confirms that he or she is the legal copyright holder of the film, and takes full responsibility for any legal issues concerning the film and any person associated with it. The copyright holder agrees to have the film screened at the festival, as many times as is required.
Submitters certify and confirm that the films were made in ethical conditions, with appropriate conditions of work, fair wages and respectful behaviors toward the cast, crew and any and all participants. If the festival becomes aware of any issues regarding the above, the selection committee reserves the right to exclude a film from the competition, from screening and/or from being eligible for a prize. Decisions to exclude entirely or partially a film are strictly the selection committee’s prerogative, and must not be justified legally or otherwise.
1. SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Film submissions for the 2019 Shortfilm Competition must be sent via the online form below before the 15th of November 2018 at the latest. Only films submitted through the online entry form will be accepted. Submissions sent by email or by post will not be considered for the competition.
2. SELECTION STATUS NOTIFICATION
The selection committee will inform all submitters of their decision by the 15th of January 2019 at the latest. Their decision is irrevocable, and unchallengeable. For refusals, the committee is not required, and cannot be compelled to provide any explanation. By submitting a film, submitters accept these rules and regulations.
3. SECTIONS & CRITERIA
In order to be eligible for selection and screening, films must be no longer than roughly 25 minutes. All selected and screened films are eligible for the Audience Award. The audience will vote for their favorite film with paper ballots.
Nominations for the Slip d’Or award are at the discretion of the selection committee who will chose films with exceptional quality, that were made recently and that are somewhat exclusive when screened at the festival. The nominations will not be justified and cannot be challenged on any basis.
4. SCREENER FORMAT
We prefer and recommend secure online screeners (for example vimeo with password).
5. IF SELECTED RULES
The festival reserves the right to keep a copy of each selected film in the archives, and to share it with any member of the staff, at any time. Each staff member is bound by a confidentiality agreement regarding the copyrighted material they have access to within the festival.
USE OF IMAGES FOR FESTIVAL PURPOSES
The submitter agrees for the festival to use the trailer and/or up to 30 seconds of the film for promotion and press purposes.
To simplify technical issues, we require that submitters of selected films provide an HD digital file with the following specifications: .mov or .mp4, H.264 or ProRes, 1920×1080, 25fps, AAC, 48Mhz, max 30’000 kbits/s bitrate. Screening copies and subtitles must reach the festival by the 1st of February 2019 at the latest.
For all films that are not in French or English we require French and/or English subtitles, preferably hardcoded. SRT files accepted as well. Films in English must provide French subtitles; Films in French must provide English subtitles. English is sufficient for screeners. We encourage all films to provide open captioning for deaf of hard of hearing members of the audience.
The selection committee reserves the right to withdraw selection and exclude a film for any reason and at any time without justification.
A jury of three professionals chooses the winner of the Slip d’Or. To avoid any foul play, jurors must not have participated in the production process of any of the films selected in the competition. The jurors must see the films with the audience during the festival and are not allowed to watch the selected films in advance. They will deliberate together and choose one film, and one film only by unanimous consensus. The winner of the Slip d’Or is expected to serve on the jury the following year. The jury may award additional honorable mentions, to any films in the competition.
The winners of each prize will be announced at the award ceremony at the end of the festival. A same film can win several prizes. The prize money is in Swiss francs and will be given in cash at the award ceremony, or wired if the winner is not present.
