In the nineties at the Shakedown, a stripclub in L.A.’s inner city, the african-american lesbian community celebrated the mesmerizing power of strip-tease. Female patrons were slipping dollar bills in the dancing girl’s g-strings as they were shaking their booties to the sound of heavy hip-hop. Director Leilah Weinraub used to work at the club. Using archive material and interviews she shares her perspective from within the movement.
